Animal Hospital Serving Boulder County

Emergency Exams

Our patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Critical patients will be given priority. No appointment is necessary. However, contacting us by telephone first will help us prepare to treat your pet upon arrival. Our staff is trained to determine which cases are more critical so that they will be given priority. Included in our emergency exam is an estimate for additional services that may be needed to treat your pet.

Our complete in-house laboratory allows us to quickly and accurately diagnose and monitor most emergency conditions. Rapid assessment of the patient is crucial in determining the cause of your pet's problems, so appropriate treatment may be quickly initiated.

Our clinic maintains a surgical suite that allows our trained veterinarians and staff to perform emergency surgical procedures at any time. For optimal care and safety, we continuously monitor your pet’s vital parameters including: heart rate, respiratory rate, ECG, blood pressure, and blood oxygenation.

If hospitalization is required, your pet will be in sight of the staff and closely monitored. We believe that stress slows the healing process. Therefore, we make every attempt to keep our patients as comfortable as possible. All patients are kept clean and warm and provided soft bedding. Dogs are taken outside regularly to relieve themselves and cats always have a clean litter box. Sometimes pets that cannot walk will have a urinary catheter placed for their comfort. Unless there is a medical contraindication, all pets have free access to water and are fed regularly. Lights are dimmed when possible to allow our patients to rest.

Digital x-rays allow the veterinarians to rapidly assess your pet's condition and health. Radiology consults are available 24 hours a day.

We are able to dispense a wide variety of medications for your pet. If your pet requires a medication not available through our pharmacy, we will provide you with a written prescription.

Follow-Up Care

It is the philosophy of Northside Emergency Pet Clinic to work in conjunction with your family veterinarian. Our practice is limited to providing your pet with the highest quality emergency and critical care medicine available. For routine procedures, such as spays, neuters, vaccinations, check-ups, or follow-up care you will be referred to your own veterinarian. If you do not have a veterinarian, our staff will assist you in selecting one in your area.
