EMERGENCY EXAMS
Your pet’s history, weight and vital signs will be taken by one
of our qualified technicians prior to a thorough examination by the emergency veterinarian. Patients are seen on a first-come,
first-served basis. Critical patients will be given priority. It is not necessary to make an appointment, but
contacting us by telephone first will help us prepare to treat your pet on arrival. Our staff is trained to determine
which cases are critical and need to be given urgent priority. If you are fortunate enough to have a pet that is not
in critical condition, we are sure you will understand if we may need to attend to a critical case first.
LABORATORY
Our complete in-hospital laboratory allows us
to quickly and accurately diagnose and monitor many emergency diseases and conditions. Rapid assessment of the patient
is crucial in determining the cause of your pet’s problems, so appropriate treatment may be quickly initiated.
SURGERY & ANESTHESIA
We have two surgical suites enabling us to perform
surgical procedures at any time. For your pet’s safety, we continuously monitor vital parameters, including ECG,
blood pressure, respiration, and blood oxygenation.
RADIOLOGY (X-Ray)
In addition to utilizing laboratory work to
help diagnose your pet’s condition, we will perform x-rays to help us “visualize” the internal organs of
the body. Our radiology unit allows up to perform high-quality x-ray studies and, combined with our automatic processor,
we can rapidly assess your pet’s health. Additional imaging capabilities are available via ultrasound examination.
PHARMACY
We are able to dispense a wide variety of medication
for your pet. If your pet requires a medication not available through our pharmacy, we will provide you with a written
prescription.
HOSPITALIZATION
If hospitalization is required, we will give
you an estimate of fees for anticipated treatment and procedures for your approval. We try not to exceed this estimate;
however, changes in your pet’s condition may necessitate unexpected treatment. Should this occur, we will make
every effort to reach you. If we cannot reach you, the attending veterinarian will do what is best for your pet.
Pre-payment is required on all hospitalized cases.
FOLLOW-UP CARE
It is the philosophy of Boulder and Northside
Emergency Pet Clinic to function in support of the services provided by your family veterinarian. Our practice
is limited to emergency and critical care medicine to provide your pet with the highest quality care possible. For routine
procedures, such as spays, neuters, vaccinations, and check-ups, you will be referred to your own veterinarian. If you
do not have a veterinarian, our staff will assist you in selecting one in your area.
